📉 The New Zealand and Australia job markets have been dire for the last two years. I have huge sympathy for anyone who has had to look for a job in the worst markets since I moved to NZ nineteen years ago.
📉It’s been particularly tough at the senior level: restructuring, downsizing, offshoring… all left seasoned pros stuck on the side-lines, wondering if they'd ever get back in the game.
⛅But here's where it gets more upbeat: the market’s finally showing signs of life. Leadership and senior appointments are picking up steam again.
💥In just the past fortnight, three of my clients landed senior roles after months in the trenches. The secret? No magic formula, just sticking to the basics:
✅ Networking
✅ Building daily recruiter relationships
✅ Staying visible in the market
🥂 We're not out of the woods yet but, fingers crossed, things continue to slowly improve. Huge congratulations if you've landed a role recently and, if you're still looking don't give up!
📞 If you've recently landed a new job after a long search, what has worked for you? And if you think your approach needs an overhaul then drop me a line.
